Chinese Milk and Blood Monochrome Transfer Ware Plates Boys Butterflies Blossoms

I could not resist picking up these charming plates even though I have little information to offer about them.

I am unsure of their age or country of origin.

They are well made porcelain, red transfer ware with some hand embellished gilding.

4 plates in all. They are 9 1/2 inches in diameter.

They feature bucolic scenes of young boys at leisure, and one is a vase scene.

They are all tied together by the color, the butterflies, and the branches of blossoms.

They are in very good condition and have seen little if any use. They have shelf and wash wear.

There is kiln grit, some iron spots, and one glazed over rim chip among various minor manufacturing flaws.

Please examine all photos to be sure these are to your liking.

Offered for your consideration in a 10 day auction with a low opening bid.

Good luck and thank you so much for taking a look.

A Penny Farthing For Your Thoughts

This little cup and saucer tells a story

From the turn of the 20th century -

The theme of this little cup and saucer(The tea cup holds 2/3 of a measured cup- when filled to the brim) is Victorian childhood and the riding of a Penny farthing bicycle, Or highwheeler bicycle.

Done in blue and white, the saucer shows a boy riding off on his high wheeler while his sisters look on. On the cup the boy has fallen off of his bike and looks sadly on as another boy rides away.

This is not a toy teacup but may have been a teacup for a young person or child.

It’s in excellent vintage condition.

Available in our Etsy shop here.
