When I bought this box I was happy to see it came with a little note which says “This little box came from Syria. Bought at worlds fair in Chicago in 1893“.
The research I have done on this box and the style it is done in, does reflect that it was made at the end of the 19th century. A super rare item it is in exceptional condition for its age. The box measures a bit under 2 1/2 inches square, and is a smidgen over 1 inch tall.
The box is decorated with figures of human beings, birds, snakes and horses.
