Mulled Wine Recipe and something to serve it in

My own yummy mulled wine recipe.
1 cup cider
I cup concord grape juice
1 bottle red wine, like merlot or cabernet
Brown sugar to taste 1/4 - 1/2 cup
3 cinnamon sticks
One Orange, peeled in one long coil studded with four cloves
The juice from the orange
Heat gently till sugar is dissolved

Yummy
And we have a very unique item for service.
From the "Dutch Estate" Is this salt glazed "Motto Ware" German Wine crock.
I believe it was made just for this purpose.
The Google translator was less than forthcoming about translation.
It is German and says very enthusiastic things about wine.
Cobalt decoration and a lid with a figural little gnome one top....the body of the crock is near pristine but the little guys nose is broken and the lid has some minute damage. Nothing that would really stop it from being a show stopper. After a cup of wine...I would suspect all will be well with the world.

Spectacular Sideboard circa 1900

Spectacular Sideboard circa 1900
Now if you had seen this when it came in you would have declared it DOA and sent it to the wood stove but not Tony....good bones, good wood, good brasses and here it is about 3 months later.
Just hit the floor yesterday and causing quite a commotion from our loyal clientele.
Just in time for holiday entertaining.

Here is a more detailed listing as we have it posted on Craigslist http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/fuo/3279399774.html

No More Accordion! Good home found!

Whelp, with the help of craigslist we finally found the accordion a very good home.
Nicest guy....he will soon be serenading his young child.

We really do love it when a good thing goes to a good home.
Tony still misses this carved wooden sign terribly...but it is now at a beach house. Sold to someone who really loves it. That helps making parting with certain things easier.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and Happy Collecting!
We'll be open after you finished yard sailing and thrifting and flea marketing....Great things looking for a good home. Small adoption fee...lol.

What is Goofus Glass

The origional Carnival http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goofus_glass Glass!
From Wikipedia
Goofus glass is pressed glass which was decorated with cold, unfired paint in the early 20th century in America by several prominent glass factories. Because it was mass-produced and relatively cheap, it was given as a premium for buying things, awarded as prizes at fairs. It was the first carnival glass, preceding the iridized product we refer to as carnival glass today.
Articles produced included plates, bowls, vases, oil lamps, dresser sets, salt and pepper shakers and candle holders. The most common colors used were gold, red, and green, with gold usually being the predominant color. The exact etymology of the name is unknown, but likely stems from the fact that the painted decoration wasn't very durable and people felt that it was "goofy" or that someone had tried to "goof - us".
