Antique meerschaum pipe cheroot holder decorated with a reclining nude lady. Measuring 6 inches long it is in the art nouveau style. After doing some research, I believe the piece was made by William Demuth and Company in the late 1800s.
The item has seen heavy use as can be seen in the pictures. And there is also a thin scallop fracture that can be seen in the last photos( I didn’t know it was there until I took the photos and blew them up).
The mouth stem which I believe is made of amber, is in very good condition, without teeth marks.
The carving is really beautifully done, the details are nice. You can see that she was held by a right handed smoker as there is wear to her nose where the thumb would have rested.
