This vintage charm of the Bocca Della Verita, “ The Mouth of Truth” is a replica of a marble image with a man like face that exists in Rome, Italy.
Legend has it,that it was believed that if one told a lie, while placing one’s hand in the open mouth of the sculpture, it would be bitten off.
The statue is located in the portico of the church of Santa Maria in Rome.
The charm is made out of 800 silver and has all of the detail and cracks that are represented in the original. The charm is hanging on a Sterling Silver, 925 Italian, 7 inch chain bracelet.
The combined weight of the two pieces is 5.5 g. In excellent used condition.
