Antique figural meerschaum cheroot cigar holder carved nude lady reclining

 

Antique meerschaum pipe cheroot holder decorated with a reclining nude lady. Measuring 6 inches long it is in the art nouveau style. After doing some research, I believe the piece was made by William Demuth and Company in the late 1800s.
The item has seen heavy use as can be seen in the pictures. And there is also a thin scallop fracture that can be seen in the last photos( I didn’t know it was there until I took the photos and blew them up).
The mouth stem which I believe is made of amber, is in very good condition, without teeth marks.
The carving is really beautifully done, the details are nice. You can see that she was held by a right handed smoker as there is wear to her nose where the thumb would have rested.

Antique Alabaster Bust of Jesus Christ

This beautifully carved bust of Jesus Christ was made in Italy, as is inscribed in the bottom. The craftsmanship is astounding. I have seen other alabaster carved busts of Jesus with similar form and style that are labeled “after professor Giuseppe Bessi”. Though smaller ,this is very much in that style. Measuring approximately 7 1/2 inches tall and a bit over 4 inches deep, it is an excellent vintage condition for a piece over 100 years old. Someone miss handled him and a small area of his thorned crown is damaged in the front. It’s a tiny tiny problem.

The detail on this is superb.

Measuring about an inch long, this sweet little carved amethyst kitty cat is nicely finished. The amethyst changing to an almost green color at the feet gives the appearance of a kitty sitting in grass. Charming a little item.
