Mid century Scandinavian unmarked Nils Erik From sterling

This lovely modernist set of earrings, and a matching pendant was most likely made by Nils Erik From. As it is created with his signature, oxidized cupped disks and bezel set stones. The stones in this case are rhodochrosite. The set is unmarked, except for individual 925 markings on each piece. The pendant measures 2 inches from top loop to bottom.

Check it our here in our Etsy shop.

Albert Scharning Scandinavian enamel heart and ribbon Brooch

Just in!
Designed by Albert Scharning in 1950. This is lovely jeep red heart brooch is offset with a gold Vermeil ribbon.
Fully hallmarked on the back A. Sch. Norway sterling 925S. I have also seen this pin referred to as an Anthurium flower.
Doing research on this type of brooch, I found that Mr. Scharning finished his heart brooches with a C-clasp closure. In looking at the back of this particular brooch, I see that someone had taken it to a jeweler to have the type of clasp changed. This is a very delicate operation to do on enamel jewelry, but they succeeded. The replacement clasp is a much more secure option.

1920s Art Deco Equestrian Christmas card signed JB

Done an incredibly fine detail, and in either watercolor or gouache. This 4.75 x 3 1/2“ illustration depicts a male and female rider approaching the innkeeper at a Merry Xmas Inn.
A note attached to the back reads, “A Merry Xmas“ original pencil and watercolor signed J.B. A note on the verso says “by postal artist JB“ it says circa 1930s probably original art for a published Christmas card. “
The uncredited note aside, I believe the illustration was done in the 20s as it looks very much like the Art Deco covers on Vanity Fair magazine at the time.
The frame job is absolutely beautiful with some wear, the image has some faint foxing. A terrific stylized piece of art that would be perfect to reproduce for your Christmas card.

1920s Alabaster Figural lamp of woman with roses

This amazing lamp from the 1920s depicts a beautiful woman in contemporary clothes, holding an arm load of roses. She is carved of alabaster and is mounted on a plinth which, with the lamp pole are made of marble.

The height from the bottom of the base to the top of the piece of marble that holds the harp is 19 1/2 inches. From the top of the finial to the fixture is 12 1/2 inches. This is a very heavy piece weighing in at almost 17 pounds without a shade.
Most likely purchased in Italy while on a Grand Tour somewhere between 1909 and the 1920 as we can see from her style.
In marvelous condition, especially when you consider it is over 100 years old it was most likely carried back on a steamship cruiser. There is the occasional slight ding as you can see on one corner of her plinth in the front, some loss to the marble that bands the pole, and some rubbed edges on the roses . But her face and figure are in excellent condition. (although she works and lights up just fine I would replace the wiring which seems to be original.)

See her here in our Etsy shop.

SALE! Mid century Vietnamese woman handpainted china plaque by Laraque

This is absolutely one of the most beautiful pieces of china painting I have ever found. Measuring 12 and three-quarter inches by 9 inches, with a half inch rise of a lip around the edge, it is pierced at either end for hanging.

Hand painted and signed Laraque, the plaque is without a date but appears to be a mid century work.
The porcelain painting pictures a young Vietnamese woman with an umbrella, carrying a bottle.

1940s/50s Green leaping gazelle, antelope, television lamp

This vintage television lamp was made somewhere between the late 40s and the 1950s. The leaping gazelle, or leaping antelope design was a very popular art deco motif. The emerald green glaze was popular during the same era.

I believe this is a fairly early one most likely made by Hollywood Ceramics out of Los Angeles, California. Phil-Mar made a similar style, but I think the open bottom with the foil reflecting the long tube bulb is an earlier creation.
The lamp is an excellent vintage condition without chips or cracks. There are some glazed cracks in the base that were done as a result of the manufacturing process. Unbelievably the lamp still has its original reflector in the bottom.

Bronze Baby Vulcan Breaking Nut Match holder

This little figure has me mystified. I have done my best to look up why this little cherubic figure with a rather manly face is cracking open that walnut.

Made of bronze and standing 3 inches tall by approximately 2 1/2 inches deep, this figure of a baby Vulcan with hammer in hand, and naked except for an apron and a pair of slippers, was probably a match holder. In each of his feet are screw holes that indicated he was mounted on some sort of base, maybe with a striker for matches.

VTG 1980s post impressionist oil painting Crimea seascape street scene and cars

An eye-catching and evocative piece of art, this oil painting depicts a city street or a town street in Crimea most likely during the 1980s.

Done in a post impressionist style it is covered with a thick impasto form of painting.
I can virtually feel the sunlight through this painting.
The image in the mat measures 9”x 14”.
The outside of the frame measures 19 1/2” x 14”
Please see all photographs as they are part of the description.

Antique 4 inch Austrian bronze cold painted Pekingese dog figurine

He retains almost all of his cold paint, except for an occasional spot (see the top of his nose). Please see the photos for full description of condition. I’ve never seen another pekingese dog statue with such beautiful detail. Marked made in Austria on his tummy.

Born Amilcare Santini 1910 Florence Italy, he was an apprentice to the sculptor Colombini.

Santini, on the stomach of the elephant, he stands 8 1/4 inches tall and is approximately 8 inches long. He is mounted on a black platform which has the original foil sticker on the base. In excellent vintage condition. Please see all photos for full description.

1850s Victorian photo locket pendant with double daguerreotypes of handsome married couple

I just love the heartwarming sentimentality of this item. For the last 160 years the images of this couple have stared into and reflected each other. From the locket itself and the clothes they wear, they are obviously a well to do couple, I believe her daguerreotype is touched up with just the tiniest hint of gold on the earrings.
The locket is rolled gold and in very good condition, with some slight wear. The images are likewise in very good condition.

Mid 1800s Jas. Stimpson Polar Bear Ice Pitcher

This fabulous mid-19th century Silver-plated ice water pitcher is double walled, with an enamel interior. Designed by Jason Stimpson , and made at the Meriden, silver company in Connecticut, this outstanding example is decorated with a polar bear on an iceberg on both sides, a satyr’s mask, and a maiden on the handle. What more could you ask?

This must’ve been the height of luxury during its day. I looked up the silver plate made by the company and I believe that the patina was original to the style. Over the years, I have seen people attempt to clean this and destroy it. As you can see, this over 150-year-old pitcher has had a life! In the last picture you can see the small dent, and various places of imperfection on the finish.

The interior enameled lining is in very good condition. it is large, about 13 inches tall and heavy. This would make an excellent period set piece, for plays, movies or television. The visuals will hold up for the immediate post Civil War era.
