Antique bronze French bulldog figurine Frenchy Frenchie statue

Measuring 3 1/2 inches long, and standing 2 3/4 inches tall, this antique figurine of a French bulldog is in excellent vintage condition. A handsome little boy, he is very hard to photograph do to the dark brown coloring of the bronze. Please forgive the photographs, I tried to show his detail using different types of lighting.

The little Frenchy’s expression is unusual in that he seems to be listening to something behind him. Usually figurines of French bulldogs have their ears clocked forward. Most likely from the 1920s.

Auction ends this afternoon - Antique Estate Large Desktop Bronze Cannon Replica Wood Carriage

Handsome and heavy bronze cannon replica came from a fine New England estate.

The cast bronze cannon is just over 9 inches long and the barrel opening is 3/4 inch in diameter.
The carriage is about 7 1/2 inches long.
Rich honeyed patina on the bronze.
No markings.
This took a fall and the carriage needs repair.
The almost 6 pound bronze part is fine. The wagon should be easily repaired.
It holds the bronze part but could use some shoring up.
Please see all the photos to be sure this is to your liking.
Sold as you see it.

Early 20th century, well executed, breed standard sculptural relief of a Dachshund dog
with a definite noble look.

The motto or caption seems to translate from German to English as
"Noble Strength."  In German, "Adel Typ Festigkeit."
It measures 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches.
Rich, dark  patina. Some wear and tear commensurate with its age.
If this is your breed then you will love this.

Bronze Baby Vulcan Breaking Nut Match holder

This little figure has me mystified. I have done my best to look up why this little cherubic figure with a rather manly face is cracking open that walnut.

Made of bronze and standing 3 inches tall by approximately 2 1/2 inches deep, this figure of a baby Vulcan with hammer in hand, and naked except for an apron and a pair of slippers, was probably a match holder. In each of his feet are screw holes that indicated he was mounted on some sort of base, maybe with a striker for matches.

Austria Painted Vienna Bronze Seated Shoemaker Signed by Bergman

Original Austria Painted Vienna Bronze Seated Shoemaker Signed by Bergman.
The underneath of the chair bears the all important B in an urn cartouche that indicates they was indeed made by the fabled foundry of Franz Bergman in Vienna, Áustria. Excellent quality sculpting, detail paintwork as is expected from a Bergman piece. In good condition but has some paint wear, and bent bits as is to be expected with a piece dating from the late 19th century . Measures 5.5 cm high.
An absolute must have for collectors!
Franz Xaver Bergman (or Franz Xaver Bergmann) (1861-1936) was the owner of a Viennese foundry who produced numerous patinated and cold-painted bronze Oriental, erotic and animal figures, the latter often humanized or whimsical, humorous objects d'art.Bergmann was noted for his detailed and colorful work. He signed with either a letter 'B' in an urn-shaped cartouche or 'Nam Greb' - 'Bergman' in reverse. These marks were used to disguise his identity on erotic works. His father, Franz Bergmann (1838-1894), was a professional chaser from Gablonz who came to Vienna and founded a small bronze factory in 1860. Franz Xaver Bergmann inherited the company and opened a new foundry in 1900. Many of the bronzes from the 1900s were still based on designs from his father's workshop. Bergmann is often incorrectly described as a sculptor but he was not; he was a foundry owner. His workshops employed, on a temporary basis, many anonymous sculptors. Bruno Zach employed Bergmann to edit and cast some of his works, with some of the more erotic ones being signed as "Prof. Tuch", a pseudonym used by Zach. At the turn of the 19th century there were about fifty workshops producing Vienna bronzes. 'Cold-painted bronze' refers to pieces cast in Vienna and then decorated in several layers with so-called dust paint; the know-how for the mix of this kind of paint has been lost. The color was not fired hence 'cold painted'. The painting was carried out mainly by women working at home, a typical cottage industry.
Please see all of the photos as they are a major part of the description.
Priced with condition in mind.

Vienna Bronze Beer Toasting Man Statue

SOLD! What a fabulous little guy! Measuring about 3 1/4 inches tall, this seated figure holds aloft a frothy beer (with a slightly twisted Stein lid) while seated on a bench. The character to his face is astounding, the details to the sculpture are remarkable. I considering he’s probably about 120 years old, he’s in pretty darn good condition.

He retains almost all of his cold paint, except for an occasional spot (see the top of his nose). Please see the photos for full description of condition. I’ve never seen another Pekingese dog statue with such beautiful detail. Marked made in Austria on his tummy.
