Antique bronze French bulldog figurine Frenchy Frenchie statue

Measuring 3 1/2 inches long, and standing 2 3/4 inches tall, this antique figurine of a French bulldog is in excellent vintage condition. A handsome little boy, he is very hard to photograph do to the dark brown coloring of the bronze. Please forgive the photographs, I tried to show his detail using different types of lighting.

The little Frenchy’s expression is unusual in that he seems to be listening to something behind him. Usually figurines of French bulldogs have their ears clocked forward. Most likely from the 1920s.

Miniature Vienna Bronze Cat on Chair Playing with Terrier Dog

At over 120 years old, this is adorable 1 5/8 inch figurine is a Vienna bronze depicting a cat on a chair with an attentive Jack Russell attempting to play. Structurally sound it sits just fine although it has obviously been bent on that back chair leg. One of the tiny dog’s back legs has a manufacturing fracture line that has been there a good long time, the foot seems firm but delicate. The paint is about 95% present some chips here and there. Just adorable.

1952 Saint Joan of Arc Sebastian Miniature SML 209 Square Base

Isn’t she beautiful? Very hard to find. Made by the Sebastian miniature company of Marblehead, Mass. This statue of Saint Joan of arc is beautifully detailed! Measuring 4 1/2 inches tall, she is in excellent vintage condition. The only fault I could find is a spot at the back of the base that looks like it was a factory fault.

Her base is also marked 1952.
She has her original foil Sebastian miniatures label.

Franz Xaver Bergman (or Franz Xaver Bergmann) (1861-1936) was the owner of a Viennese foundry who produced numerous patinated and cold-painted bronze Oriental, erotic and animal figures, the latter often humanized or whimsical, humorous objects d'art.Bergmann was noted for his detailed and colorful work. He signed with either a letter 'B' in an urn-shaped cartouche or 'Nam Greb' - 'Bergman' in reverse. These marks were used to disguise his identity on erotic works. His father, Franz Bergmann (1838-1894), was a professional chaser from Gablonz who came to Vienna and founded a small bronze factory in 1860. Franz Xaver Bergmann inherited the company and opened a new foundry in 1900. Many of the bronzes from the 1900s were still based on designs from his father's workshop. Bergmann is often incorrectly described as a sculptor but he was not; he was a foundry owner. His workshops employed, on a temporary basis, many anonymous sculptors. Bruno Zach employed Bergmann to edit and cast some of his works, with some of the more erotic ones being signed as "Prof. Tuch", a pseudonym used by Zach. At the turn of the 19th century there were about fifty workshops producing Vienna bronzes. 'Cold-painted bronze' refers to pieces cast in Vienna and then decorated in several layers with so-called dust paint; the know-how for the mix of this kind of paint has been lost. The color was not fired hence 'cold painted'. The painting was carried out mainly by women working at home, a typical cottage industry.
Please see all of the photos as they are a major part of the description.
Priced with condition in mind.

Dutch Silver Miniature Windmill Articulated 835 Continental Silver Doll House

This sweet little antique miniature of a windmill with moving parts is most likely 835 silver. I acid tested it for silver and it tested as silver. Standing 3 1/2 inches tall the windmill house rotates with the attached stairwell. The blades of the windmill rotate and the little flag on top can move. It’s in very good condition but, over the past 100 years of existence somethings are a little bent. The building itself rocks a tiny bit on its base but could be tightened up underneath by someone with better eyesight than mine. It has been priced with condition in mind.

Samoyed Sled Dog Pulling Antique Turban Mother of Pearl Shell

I believe this little figurine of a handsome sled-dog pulling a shell sleigh or a sled was made in commemoration of all the arctic and antarctic exploration that was going on when he was created. This was made at the turn of the last century when Robert Peary and Frederick Cook were all the rage representing the adventurous spirit of the time.
The figure of the Samoyed dog is 2 inches long and 1 1/2 inches high. The little dog has what appears to be a chip off of the very top of one ear, however this chip is glazed over so it was done during manufacturing.
The dog and sled measure at 5 1/2 inches long. The sled is made up of what I believe is copper wire and mother of pearl turban shell. There is a tiny chip to the shell edge, Not overly noticeable but it is there.
A remarkably rare item, it’s in overall, very good condition except for the noted above.

$85
