From their 1980 Zodiac line, this fabulous modernist Gubelin LIBRA Brooch is a rare item. I have not found any of the Zodiac pieces of jewelry that weren’t pendants. Fabulous Crown Trifiari Sagitarius gold toned brooch is in near mint condition. They made the finest quality costume jewelry. Circa 1960's - 1970s mid century astrological craze. Nicely enhanced with the zodiac signs dates marked on the back. Albert Scharning Scandinavian enamel heart and ribbon Brooch

 

Just in! 

Designed by Albert Scharning in 1950. This is lovely jeep red heart brooch is offset with a gold Vermeil ribbon.
Fully hallmarked on the back A. Sch. Norway sterling 925S. I have also seen this pin referred to as an Anthurium flower.
Doing research on this type of brooch, I found that Mr. Scharning finished his heart brooches with a C-clasp closure. In looking at the back of this particular brooch, I see that someone had taken it to a jeweler to have the type of clasp changed. This is a very delicate operation to do on enamel jewelry, but they succeeded. The replacement clasp is a much more secure option.

A fascinating work by David Anderson from the 1960s, this brooch is a saga copy of an ancient Viking cloak pin. Made in Norway it is copied from a design created in 1000 A.D. and I believe would be suitable for both sexes. The pin measures 1 5/8” x 1 1/2”. Signed and explained on the back. It’s in excellent vintage condition.
