Signed Abstract Fall Leaves Block Print Qui Male d' Autumn Prestigious Estate

 

This unique and beautiful piece of art features an abstract design of falling leaves and  wildflowers in vibrant colors with gilded highlights. This comes from the recent sale of the  prestigious estate of former ambassador to Switzerland, Faith Whittlesey.  She was appointed by Ronald Reagan. The title is in French and translates to, "Who misses autumn?" Created using handmade techniques, and is framed and matted for a professional look.  The handsome green mat enhances every color. The artwork is signed in pencil by the  artist and is part of a limited edition. It is numbered 25/60 The dimensions of the piece are 8 1/2 inches in length, 10 1/2 inches in height, and 1/2 inch in width.  It would make a lovely addition to any home or office, and is sure to be a conversation starter.  The artwork is an original, produced in the 1970s and is in excellent condition.  The golden wooden frame has some wear. 1920s Art Deco Equestrian Christmas card signed JB

 

Done an incredibly fine detail, and in either watercolor or gouache. This 4.75 x 3 1/2“ illustration depicts a male and female rider approaching the innkeeper at a Merry Xmas Inn.
A note attached to the back reads, “A Merry Xmas“ original pencil and watercolor signed J.B. A note on the verso says “by postal artist JB“ it says circa 1930s probably original art for a published Christmas card. “
The uncredited note aside, I believe the illustration was done in the 20s as it looks very much like the Art Deco covers on Vanity Fair magazine at the time.
The frame job is absolutely beautiful with some wear, the image has some faint foxing. A terrific stylized piece of art that would be perfect to reproduce for your Christmas card.

Wonderful condition for it's age. It has wear, especially at the base. It was cared for but some dusty crevices.

There is a small nick at the bottom of the man's jacket but there is the paint inside the nick by the artist. It is an artisan inclusion. 

Most likely made mid century but could be earlier.

It would be a perfect wedding or anniversary gift.

1988 Zodin Rattlesnake Oil Lamp Small Hand Thrown Artist Signed Dated

 Artist signed and dated this little pottery oil lamp is decorated with a nicely done rendition of a rattlesnake wrapped around the body. Signed Zodin, it is dated 1988.

The two piece lamp with wick appears to be unused. This handsome little item stands approximately 3 inches tall.

The underneath of the chair bears the all important B in an urn cartouche that indicates they was indeed made by the fabled foundry of Franz Bergman in Vienna, Áustria. Excellent quality sculpting, detail paintwork as is expected from a Bergman piece. In good condition but has some paint wear, and bent bits as is to be expected with a piece dating from the late 19th century . Measures 5,5 cm high.

Franz Xaver Bergman (or Franz Xaver Bergmann) (1861-1936) was the owner of a Viennese foundry who produced numerous patinated and cold-painted bronze Oriental, erotic and animal figures, the latter often humanized or whimsical, humorous objects d'art

Gouda Zuid Holland Damascus Vase Arts and Craft Dutch 1920s Folk Art

Made in the 1920s this beautiful Gouda vase has a wonderful shape and a lovely polychrome glaze.
It is in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks or crazing. There is the occasional tiny glaze pop, typical in the manufacturing of this type of pottery. Marked Damascus 0101S Holland. The vase measures 5 inches tall and approximately 4 1/2 inches in diameter.

Mid Century Factory Industrial Urban Decay Framed Watercolor Signed

This fabulous watercolor of an urban scene is signed in what I believe is JL Southwick. The colors, frame and matting lead me to believe that this painting is from the 1960s. The outside measurement of the frame is 19 x 16“ the inside image is 13 1/2 by 10“. I have not been able to find any other work by this artist, but with the beauty of this work, I hope they had a long career. Purchased at a recent auction, this painting is fresh to the market.

SOLD! Day of the Dead Doorway Mirror Signed Folk Art

Constructed of wood, (pine I think) paint, and mirrors this Day of the Dead mirror doorway altar is signed by the artist “Thorp 93“ on the back.
Purchased from a local estate it stands approximately 1 foot tall, 8 inches wide and 3 inches deep. Unboxed it weighs 2 lbs. 7oz.
The doors opening up to a mirror that reflects the swirls on the inside is pretty cool. I also like the two little bozo skulls that are hanging over the doorway. (it’s what they look like, anyway)
It’s an interesting folk art item.

Wonderful pair of woodblock prints depicting post WWI Tyrolean alpine village life.

Bold, eye-catching colors are sure to brighten any room.

Both signed C. Bartow.

Print "Tyrolians" is signed by the artist and numbered 89 of 350.

Print "Ḧot Day" is signed by the artist and numbered 192 of 350.

Each frame is approx 10 3/4" x 9 3/4".

In excellent vintage condition with the odd minute ding to frame and a few tiny marks on the glass. You can only see under very close scrutiny. They are ready to hang.

Art Pottery Trinket Dish Blue Crackle Glaze Ocean Seashore Shells

Measuring 6” in diameter this wonderful Art pottery trinket dish has a seashore theme. The blue crackle glaze simulates the sparkling ocean water, decorated with a scallop shell and little sea urchin.
Signed JS on the back. The condition is excellent, however there is a oval glaze pop emerging from under the shell.

Mid Century Brutalist Wood Cut Chariots by A. Tapper 1961

Fabulous Brutalist wood cut print of chariot wheels - marked in pencil, “Chariot sketch” in the left corner, and “A. Tapper 1961 “in the right.

A strikingly harsh visual, expressively done in black on cream white. It would be a handsome addition to any mid-century home that was into 20th century modern design. The rice print paper itself is in very good condition, but it Will Need a new mat when it is put in a frame, as you can see in the photos. The mat is 18” x 14”, the inside cut out size is 14 1/4 x 10 1/4”.
