Vtg Metal Star Mercerized American Thread Company spool display Cabinet
This wonderful vintage metal cabinet is probably from the 1920s. It was made for the American thread company as a point of display spool cabinet. It’s a four drawer spool box with glass on the front of the drawers. The front is emblazoned with “Star Mercerized”. The drawers all work well.
Now for the bad news – apparently somebody attempted to use it as a stepstool at one point and dented the top as you can see in the photos. There’s a few spots of discoloration on the top as you can see in the photos. Normally sold for double this price. I am pricing it taking the condition into account. A heavy item. It weighs 17 pounds unboxed.

1920s Art Deco Equestrian Christmas card signed JB
Done an incredibly fine detail, and in either watercolor or gouache. This 4.75 x 3 1/2“ illustration depicts a male and female rider approaching the innkeeper at a Merry Xmas Inn.
A note attached to the back reads, “A Merry Xmas“ original pencil and watercolor signed J.B. A note on the verso says “by postal artist JB“ it says circa 1930s probably original art for a published Christmas card. “
The uncredited note aside, I believe the illustration was done in the 20s as it looks very much like the Art Deco covers on Vanity Fair magazine at the time.
The frame job is absolutely beautiful with some wear, the image has some faint foxing. A terrific stylized piece of art that would be perfect to reproduce for your Christmas card.
1920s Alabaster Figural lamp of woman with roses
The height from the bottom of the base to the top of the piece of marble that holds the harp is 19 1/2 inches. From the top of the finial to the fixture is 12 1/2 inches. This is a very heavy piece weighing in at almost 17 pounds without a shade.
Most likely purchased in Italy while on a Grand Tour somewhere between 1909 and the 1920 as we can see from her style.
In marvelous condition, especially when you consider it is over 100 years old it was most likely carried back on a steamship cruiser. There is the occasional slight ding as you can see on one corner of her plinth in the front, some loss to the marble that bands the pole, and some rubbed edges on the roses . But her face and figure are in excellent condition. (although she works and lights up just fine I would replace the wiring which seems to be original.)

c 1930 BW Photo Park Street Boston Massachusetts Statehouse 223/1000
So much going on in this matted, framed, and numbered silver gelatin photo. Chilly Bostonians attend to their business in the heart of the city next to Boston Common, looking up towards the gold dome of the Massachusetts statehouse. Some businesses are still here but most are gone, with some not forgotten. Late 1920s early 1930s? I am unsure of the significance of this image, but it looks like a press photo. It has been numbered 223/1000. I hope more information would be available on the back of the photographic image. 8" x 10" image in a 14" x 17" (approx.) frame. The frame is chippy and shabby but ready to hang. |

1920s Dressel Kister German Half Doll Boudoir Lamp
Standing approximately 11 inches tall, this lovely German half doll boudoir lamp is a woman in the style of Marie Antoinette or Madame Pompadour. To me, it’s amazing that this item that is approximately 100 years old and is in such terrific condition. It needs to be rewired, but anything you buy at this age should be re-wired. Her clothing is in pretty good shape as you can see in the photos. She even has her original light bulbs still in place and the curly cue filament is still in one piece. The bulb is rather grimy. I bought this item out of a local estate and I hesitate to even clean the bulb as the person who will restore this will most likely want it untouched.

Antique Dutch Children Lot Gebruder Heubach Porcelain Bisque
This is really a very cute lot of Dutch children from approximately 100 years ago. The tallest boy (approximately 7 inches) is a decanter. Unfortunately his cork has broken and then replaced with a pencil somebody stuck into his head.He could either be glued permanently on or his cork could be replaced. He does have some crazing but no chips or cracks. He has very round googly eyes that were popular in the 1920s.
The next figure is a made in Japan Bell boy. As bells go he doesn’t make much of a noise but he’s without breakage of any kind, impressed Japan on the back of his foot. Once again this figure has an endearing cherubic face with 1920s style eyes.
The last of the lot, also in excellent condition are these two 2 1/2 inch tall singing children. Made by Gebruder Heubach they are made of porcelain bisque and have a lovely paint job on their tiny little faces. A paint job to be expected from that company.

As you can see it has seen heavy use. I did not polish it leaving the patina choices to the new owner.
