Vintage Salvador Dali Extreme Mustache Face Bookend by J Signore 1960s

Hilarious, obscure, unexpected, single bookend of Salvador Dali's face. He is as wild eyed and mustached as you could ever hope for. PLUS, I got it at the recent, nearby estate sale of the former US Ambassador to Switzerland during the  Reagan administration. Of all people. It was tucked away in an upstairs book case.  Marked  on the bottom, J. Signore. It reminds me of gift shop Russ Berrie Sillisculpt statues. It's that type of hardened, molded foam plastic. It's heavy for it's size. I can find no others. I can find no reference to J. Signore as artist, distributor, manufacturer or novelty  company. He has seen some use and has some wear. Nothing major. Unusual Mid Century PARACHUTIST Artist Signed Ltd Ed 11/35 Portrait of a Handsome Young Man

 

Large portrait of a handsome young parachutist under the canopy of his chute, drifting back to earth. In very good condition. Very limited edition, it is number 11/35 and titled "Parachitist". Signed illegibly by the artist. Dated 1966. Measures 26" x 32.5". The mat has some staining in bottom left corner. The frame has some wear and tear. Advertising ware from the legendary Royal Hawaiian Hotel on Waikiki beach in Honolulu. Geisha form tiki mug or vase is in good condition. I found this with the orchard in the straw hole and offer this photo as to it's versatility and beauty. It comes with the silk orchard. Mid century, marked Japan on the bottom. It is not chipped but has some tight, stable hairlines just above the raised lettering on the back. Check the eBay auction out here.

MCM Red Amber Lucite Grapes Driftwood Matching Candle Holders Console Set

Fabulous Mid century console set features a driftwood grape cluster with matching  wood based candlesticks candle holders. Redish amber in varying degrees.  It has three plastic clusters of three leaves each that are not fixed to the center  but can be. You can decide if three sets of leaves are too much and you're more of a two leaf cluster person. The grapes are almost a foot long and are pretty heavy. It is a weighty set. Memorable centerpiece...trust me. The set has some wear and a few scratches but it really does display beautifully. Check this out in our eBay store here

Gorgeous Infant of Prague Statue Large 1966 Columbia Statuary Italy 19"

This breathtaking chalkware statue is approx. 19" tall and certainly commandeers the presence of any room.The child's face is exceptional. The blue eyes are piercing. The lacy gown and cape are extraordinary and regally enhanced with metallic silver thread. There are three red ribbons pinned to the gowns bottom.

From a fine local estate. Made by Columbia Statuary, 1966 in Italy and lovingly care for by one owner.

In wonderful condition with the gown overall slightly yellowed by age, dusty in corners and crevices and there are some stains on the inside of gown and cape and loose threads here and there. The edges are raw where the hands poke out. The top of the crown comes out and is easily placed back in. The cross on the orb does spin around but is secure.

You'd be hard pressed to find a nice version.

It is sure to be a family heirloom.

Miklos Borsos (1906-1990) Etching Net Fishing at Sunrise Artist Signed B.M. 1964

With just a few minimal lines, the artist Hungarian Miklos Borsos was able to capture the serene peace of a man fishing at dawn. Measuring 18 1/2“ x 14 1/2“ this rather large etching is signed and titled Miklos Borsos by the artist in pencil on the bottom edge of the work. Inside the plate it is signed ”B.M. 1964”.

Presently the artwork is glued at the top to a cardboard backing. Your framer should be able to clean and frame this piece nicely.

Sold! Willy Winnaess David Andersen Pale Blue Enamel Sterling Silver Vermeil Leaf Bracelet Norway Circa 1965

David Andersen bracelet designed by Willy Winnaess.
This sterling silver and light blue guilloche enamel link bracelet is in the elegant double-leaf pattern. One of David Andersen's most popular and recognizable designs. Featuring ten double leaf links in a beautiful shade of light blue glass enamel applied over veined sterling leaves.
Hallmarked on the push clasp David Andersen maker's mark of scales in a circle, D-A, 925S , Sterling, Norway, and underneath that a W in a circle denoting that this piece was designed by Willy Winnaess, one of the top designers working for D-A in the 1950s.
The bracelet measures 7" long, by almost a 1/2" wide.
It weighs 11.9 grams.
In excellent vintage condition.

1960s Sterling Silver Smiling Whale Brooch Pin

He’s got the cutest little 1960s face on him. This vintage sterling silver brooch is an inch and a quarter long and about a half inch wide. Marked Sterling and a little artist mark of an asterisk and a three, on the back. A very endearing little pin.

Mid Century Factory Industrial Urban Decay Framed Watercolor Signed

This fabulous watercolor of an urban scene is signed in what I believe is JL Southwick. The colors, frame and matting lead me to believe that this painting is from the 1960s. The outside measurement of the frame is 19 x 16“ the inside image is 13 1/2 by 10“. I have not been able to find any other work by this artist, but with the beauty of this work, I hope they had a long career. Purchased at a recent auction, this painting is fresh to the market.

Mid Century Brutalist Wood Cut Chariots by A. Tapper 1961

Fabulous Brutalist wood cut print of chariot wheels - marked in pencil, “Chariot sketch” in the left corner, and “A. Tapper 1961 “in the right.

A strikingly harsh visual, expressively done in black on cream white. It would be a handsome addition to any mid-century home that was into 20th century modern design. The rice print paper itself is in very good condition, but it Will Need a new mat when it is put in a frame, as you can see in the photos. The mat is 18” x 14”, the inside cut out size is 14 1/4 x 10 1/4”.

Unique 1960s Estate Double Diamond Owl Face Ring Sz 5 3/4

Vintage diamond ring has 14 karat gold setting and made up of two round diamonds of different cuts and sizes indicating that the ring was probably created from other jewelry pieces. One of the diamonds measures 4.5 mm in circumference and the other measures 4 mm. These are joined by four tiny little diamonds in a setting that reminds me of an abstract owl face. The overall weight of the ring is 2.2 g. The approximate combined stone’s weight is roughly .65 or a bit over a half a carat.

Amilcare Santini Mid century African Elephant Statue Sculpture

Handsome African Elephant Designed by the famous A. Santini

Born Amilcare Santini 1910 Florence Italy, he was an apprentice to the sculptor Colombini.

Santini did a large body of work concentrating on the majesty of elephants. This beauty is no exception. Signed A. Santini, on the stomach of the elephant, he stands 8 1/4 inches tall and is approximately 8 inches long. He is mounted on a black platform which has the original foil sticker on the base. In excellent vintage condition.

Miklós Borsos (1906 – 1990) Hungarian sculptor, medal artist, graphic designer. He illustrated hundreds of books with his etchings and drawings. In 1979, a permanent exhibition of his works donated to the city of Győr was opened on Káptalandomb .
