Mixed Media Painting THREE IN THE ROUGH Donald Gotz Golf Art

THREE IN THE ROUGH is a painting in a series of unusual yet beautiful golf themed, multi media works of art by Donald Gotz.

Pleasing colors and a very tranquil blue backdrop.

Needs to be framed or have a wire added to display. An easel would work well too.

Has wear from storage.

Approximately 8" x 16".

Very memorable, edgy, brutalist art.

Perfect for home, club, camp, office.

I acquired several other edgy golf themed paintings by the artist.

Let me know if you are interested in more than one.

Happy to make a deal and to combine shipping.

Artist statement

"As an artist I look at what others consider mundane or uninviting - from the bow of a boat to the branch

of a tree, from a few discarded objects to the play of shadows on rocks, to the reflections of a boat's hull against

the ever moving water - and see an opportunity for a painting.

Nature and man's interactions with nature are the main theme of my work.

Be it the remains of old weathered wooden piers, driftwood, old man-made objects that have found their way into the environment, or just

natural objects - trees, rocks, water. The work itself may represent man's intrusion into nature or natures own forces at work. The search for

subject matter is never far away. It is as near as a lake, the seashore, the local walking trail, or the back yard. Each season brings new

opportunities for new paintings.

My media of choice is acrylic, because it allows me to choose to work as in oil paint or a looser watercolor style or

something in-between, all in one media." Donald Gotz.

Donald Gotz is an artist from Framingham, MA.

BFA in painting and illustration at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

Also studied at The Museum School of Art (Boston) and School of Practical Art.

Please examine all the photos to make sure this is to your liking.

Sold as seen. This one is heavier than the others.

Cottagecore, coastal decor for sure.

You won't find cooler golf art.

Thank you for looking.

Mid Century Paris Notre Dame Street Scene Watercolor Painting by Ch. Maurice Noted Cathedral Artist

Just an absolutely beautiful mid century image of Notre Dame cathedral and the artists that sold their work in its view. Painted in the 1950s as you can tell from the clothing on the individuals, it depicts a post war Paris street scene.
I believe the painting is a watercolor with conte crayon. In the corner it is signed Ch Maurice in a very distinctive signature. Poor Charles Maurice can be found on the web being called Maurice Charles and given an assortment of birth dates relating to many other historic Charles Maurices. which is a shame because his work is very good. This beautifully framed painting measures 28“ x 24". The inside opening image measures 21 1/2“ x 18“. Purchased from a local estate it is in very very good condition but probably could stand to be re-matted.

Check it out in our Etsy shop here.

New Price! Vtg Painting At the Marshes Edge Seashore Painting by Cape Cod Artist Vivien Oswell

A lovely wide almost panoramic painting of the marshy edge of the seashore with a boat. Painted by known Cape Cod painter Vivian Oswell it is a Long almost panoramic picture, painted on a Lucite plastic panel,(I like the surface it gave the painting.)

Measuring 34 inches long by 16 inches wide around the frame.

I suspect this was framed in the 80s, and the fabric mat around it has some light areas of discoloration that might scrub out - not extremely apparent but I mention it for a thoroughness. Please excuse my shadow in the picture.

1955 Mid Century Kaoru Kawano 1916-1965 Buddha Woodblock Print “ Figure with Eyes Closed“ Signed and Framed

This marvelous mid century woodblock print by Kaoru Kawano was done in 1955. The name of the print is - Figure with Eyes Closed.
The colors remain sharp and crisp, the print is signed and framed. The outside of the frame measures 15 and three-quarter inches by 12 and three-quarter inches. The opening of the mat measures 7 1/4” x 5 1/4”. There is a slight wave to the woodblock print in the matting which could be fixed with a framing adjustment. (Not noticeable when viewed straight on).

Kaoru Kawano was born in 1916 in Hokkaido. In 1934 he studied art at the Kawabata Art School and was accepted by the Japan Print Society. World War II interrupted his work, and he ended up as a prisoner in Serbia. He survived and continued his work as an artist after the war was over. In 1954 he was awarded the Koguga prize and his work began to be recognized around the world, including exhibits in New York, Chicago , Seattle and Yugoslavia.

Using a mix of the old tradition of Japanese color woodblocks, as well as the Western approach, he creates a simplified, yet impressive, interpretation of his subjects. Kaoru Kawano mostly focused his art work on the subject of children and animals, although he has done some landscapes as well. In particular his work on denoting young girlhood gave him national recognition across Japan.

One of the biggest differences that sets Kaoru Kawano apart from other woodblock artists in his generation is the use of the grain in the woodblocks to his advantage in each of the pieces of art that he creates. It creates a beautiful element of texture and layering to his prints.

He has done both open and limited edition prints, while signing most of the work that was completed during his lifetime. The posthumous prints are noted by a PH with a circle around it usually on the verso of the print.

Kaoru Kawano’s prints can be seen in numerous places including the archives of many art museums. Museums such as the Art Institute of Chicago, Harvard University Art Museum in Massachusetts and the Brauer Museum of Art at the Valparaiso University in Indiana all have Kawano prints in their collections.
