I believe this little figurine of a handsome sled-dog pulling a shell sleigh or a sled was made in commemoration of all the arctic and antarctic exploration that was going on when he was created. This was made at the turn of the last century when Robert Peary and Frederick Cook were all the rage representing the adventurous spirit of the time.
The figure of the Samoyed dog is 2 inches long and 1 1/2 inches high. The little dog has what appears to be a chip off of the very top of one ear, however this chip is glazed over so it was done during manufacturing.
The dog and sled measure at 5 1/2 inches long. The sled is made up of what I believe is copper wire and mother of pearl turban shell. There is a tiny chip to the shell edge, Not overly noticeable but it is there.
A remarkably rare item, it’s in overall, very good condition except for the noted above.
