This fabulous mid 19th century silver plated ice water pitcher is double walled, with an enamel interior. Designed by Jason Stimpson , and made at the Meridian silver company in Connecticut, this outstanding example is decorated with a polar bear on an iceberg on both sides, a saytr’s mask, and a maiden on the handle. What more could you ask?
This must’ve been the height of luxury during its day. I looked up the silver plate made by the company and I believe that the patina was original to the style. Over the years I have seen people attempt to clean this and destroy it. As you can see this over 150 year old pitcher, has had a life! In the last picture you can see the small dent, and various places of imperfection on the finish.
The interior enameled lining is in very good condition. it is large about 13 inches tall and heavy. This would make an excellent period set piece, for plays, movie or television, the visuals will hold up for the immediate post Civil War era.
