Muskox Stone Carving Sculpture Alaska Inuit Artist Charles M Kokuluk Nome 1970






Early Charles M. Kokuluk carving. 

Noted Inupiaq artist, of King Island, Nome and Anchorage, Alaska. 
Known for his realistic carvings of Alaskan birds in walrus ivory.

Works in the British Museum and other prominent collections.

This muskox was carved in Nome, Alaska in 1970, very early in his career.
This stone musk ox is approximately 3 1/2 inches long, 1 inch wide and 1 1/2 inches tall.
There may or may not be a tiny chip on the right rear foot. It may be a natural flaw of the stone. See last photo.

A hinged and footed Egyptian revival damascene trinket box or snuff box has seen use and has areas of wear and discoloration.
The hinge has come loose but is stable and works. 
Approximately 2 in long and 1 1/ 2 in wide and 1 in tall.
Features Egyptian gods, hieroglyphics and other popular symbols.
