WILLIAM T. ALDRICH Watercolor Painting LOW TIDE New England Seascape is in very good condition.
The frame has some wear and tear. The mat has foxing.
Needs a wire to hang.
His wife's label is on the back.
William T. Aldrich, a 20th century Boston painter, was a member of the Providence Art Club. Although more prolific in watercolor, he apparently also painted in oil as the Fogg Museum has in their collection an oil portrait on canvas by him of Nelson Wilmarth Aldrich (1841-1915).
Museum collections include the Whistler House Museum of Art in Lowell, MA; three watercolors and one oil in the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA; and five watercolors in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA.
FAIA (February 16, 1880 – June 2, 1966)
Between 1945 and 1950 he was a member of the United States Commission of Fine Arts.
