Hart lived in Longmeadow, a beautiful rural community in  western Massachusetts that may have inspired this painting.  Unusual rural roadside silhouette landscape. Purples, plums and amethyst. Studio Art Pottery Lidded Jar Vessel Urn Flambeau Crystalline Glaze Signed

 

Stunning covered jar in crystalline glaze. Expertly potted with a snug fitting lid. The colors and pearlessence are complex and amazing.  All pale purple and pink hues. Lavender, lilac, mauve...then the light changes a bit and it  looks dusty pink and silver. If you've never owned pottery with a crystalline glaze, that's what it does.  Crackled and crazed.  The crackling is visible to the naked eye except where a seeded zinc crystal had formed.  Under magnification the crackle resumes, yet smaller. It plays with color and light in the most delightful ways.  It is in excellent condition.  Made during the huge surge in studio art pottery in 60's and 70's Signed illegibly by the artist. I have only seen one other like this. It is lovely. A perfect stash jar or would be the perfect as a receptacle for treasures, trinkets or just display it,  near a window.
