Dukakis Bush 1988 Campaign Collectible Clip -On Dolls

 

Pair of 1988 Bush and Dukakis Presidential candidate dolls.

Their hands have internal springs so they can grip and hang onto items.

Some wear but they are in very good condition.

Someone drew a tiny L for loser on the Dukakis doll's forehead.

What a brilliant self published cookbook by Rose Baboian of Watertown, MA.

Painstakingly compiled featuring beloved, historically significant Armenian cuisine.

Highly detailed instructions, many complex recipes for holiday specialties for those who love a challenge.

Lots of traditional secrets revealed, like soaking Munster cheese before you mash it. 

Who knew?

Used but well cared for, there are some marks and stains from use.

I purchased this with other items from the Sherborn, MA family estate of former Reagan admin US Ambassador to Switzerland, Faith Whittlesey, just this past weekend. A well publicized sale.

It was obvious at the sale that the Ambassador loved to cook or her husband loved to cook.

Vintage Salvador Dali Extreme Mustache Face Bookend by J Signore 1960s

Hilarious, obscure, unexpected, single bookend of Salvador Dali's face. He is as wild eyed and mustached as you could ever hope for. PLUS, I got it at the recent, nearby estate sale of the former US Ambassador to Switzerland during the  Reagan administration. Of all people. It was tucked away in an upstairs book case.  Marked  on the bottom, J. Signore. It reminds me of gift shop Russ Berrie Sillisculpt statues. It's that type of hardened, molded foam plastic. It's heavy for it's size. I can find no others. I can find no reference to J. Signore as artist, distributor, manufacturer or novelty  company. He has seen some use and has some wear. Nothing major. Fabulous Crown Trifiari Sagitarius gold toned brooch is in near mint condition. They made the finest quality costume jewelry. Circa 1960's - 1970s mid century astrological craze. Nicely enhanced with the zodiac signs dates marked on the back. Red Mid-Century Riihimaki Finland glass vase

 

Very handsome 8-1/2 “ tall red and clear torpedo shaped vase. Most likely made by Riihimaki in Finland in the 1960s/70s.
Condition is very good, but it does have a couple of small scratches. It also rocks a tiny bit. No cracks or chips.

Unusual Mid Century PARACHUTIST Artist Signed Ltd Ed 11/35 Portrait of a Handsome Young Man

 

Large portrait of a handsome young parachutist under the canopy of his chute, drifting back to earth. In very good condition. Very limited edition, it is number 11/35 and titled "Parachitist". Signed illegibly by the artist. Dated 1966. Measures 26" x 32.5". The mat has some staining in bottom left corner. The frame has some wear and tear. FENTON CUSTARD SATIN URANIUM GLASS VASE Textured Floral Hand Painted by Donna R

 

Very pale green satin custard glass vase contains uranium and fluoresces bright green in black light. This embossed vase is 4 1/2 inches tall and 3 inches across at the widest point..The pink flowers are textured and thoughtfully placed. This vase was hand painted by Fenton artist Sandy S. It is in very good condition with minor manufacturing flaws and minor wear. I have a matching footed compote in very good condition available also. See it here in our eBay shop.

Fenton Uranium CUSTARD Glass Footed Ruffled Compote Textured Blossoms 1960s

This lovely vintage Fenton hand painted footed compote dish is perfect for candy, nuts and sweetmeats.

Very pale green satin custard glass contains uranium and fluoresces bright green in black light.

This is 3 1/2 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches across. The pink flowers are textured and thoughtfully placed.

It is in very good condition but does have a small chip on the rim of the foot along with some minor manufacturing flaws.

You can't see the chip due to the nature of the satin glass. You have to feel for it to find it.

Hazel Ware mid century painting Temple of Juno fantasy

 

This fabulous surrealist dreamscape that seems to depict (as best I can tell) a version of The Temple of Juno at Agrigento, Sicily. The scene is populated by various little figures recreationally, enjoying themselves on an mountain topped with ruins.
The oil painting is signed by Hazel Ware, an artist and designer, who gained fame designing handkerchiefs with whimsical puppies and kittens on them in the 1950s. She can for instance, be seen in the book Handkerchiefs:volume two, a collectors guide, identification and values. By Barbara Guggenheim in Helene Guarnaccia.
I don’t know if this painting was painted while she was studying or after she became a fabulous handkerchief designer, but its modernist feel is most likely from the postwar era. It is painted on some type of board, not canvas.
CONDITION —
The painting really needs to be cleaned!
Most likely from cigarette smoke, the yellowing is most noticeable in the clouds. The linen edging that surrounds the painting, has yellowed and needs to be replaced. The outside frame could stand to be touched up.
Perfect work for an intermediate restorer, as the paint is not lifting or cracking just very dirty.
The painting is priced with condition in mind.

Art Glass Stingray Skate Fish Paperweight Sculpture Figurine

 

Unexpected, delightful stingray skate art glass sculpture has a controlled bubble base.

Hand made cased glass paperweight. It is approximately 6 in long and 3 inches tall and 5 inches at its widest point. 

Excellent condition with a tiny bit of shelf wear on the bottom of the base.

Vintage Metal Toy Greyhound Racing Dog Figurine Copyright England

 

Handsome Greyhound dog figurine is in mid stride.

It is made of very soft metal, possibly led, with black cold paint.

It is marked Copyright on the dog's belly and England on its side.

Approximately 3 1/4 inches long and 3/4 inch tall.

There is wear and paint loss. The tail and legs are bent and can easily be bent back to near the original shape.

Rockingham Glaze Pottery Puppy Dog w Bow Clumber Spaniel Figurine

 

Rare figurine of a Clumber Spaniel with a primitive Rockingham glaze. This adorable pup has a ribbon tied around their neck.  Circa 1910s - 1920s. It is made of porcelain. It is about 3 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches long. There are manufacturing flaws and wear but the dog is in very good condition. Check out the eBay auction here.

Chinese porcelain rice bowl jun kiln style purple glaze

 

Based on the Chinese song dynasty pottery this beautiful 5 1/2 inch bowl is done in what is referred to as Hares Fur glaze. Looking at the freshness of the clay of the foot ,I can only conclude that this is not ancient pottery, however beautifully made it is. The bowl is 2 inches deep and has a chopped mark on the bottom.

Sulky Driver Figure from Saint Julien Weather Vane Sheet Copper and Brass

 Salvaged sulky cart driver figure from a Saint Julien weather vane. 

His head appears to be molded of solid brass and the rest of his body is welded sheet copper.

He is about 8 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches at his widest point.

He has wear, dents and verdigris and the remains of a sticker is on his back.
